Thank you for the compliment. 😊

And yes, admonish can seem like a strong word, but in my mind it’s a loving and gentle correction from someone in authority or someone that you know has your best interest at heart.

There are (rarer) times when a strong rebuke is needed, but always, always done in love and with the intention of restoring the sinner to grace.

Correction is never easy to hear, and even when the words are gentle it’s still so easy to get terribly offended because we have so much self-love and pride.

Which is why I don’t think 1-3 and 6 of those spiritual works of mercy cannot be taken lightly or used injudiciously by just anyone.

For people with real problems and needs we advise them to speak to a priest or a wise spiritual director or a counselor. Few of us are qualified to give spiritual advise. Many of us are wise enough to instruct the ignorant, but we need to always keep a humble and loving attitude.

Everything comes down to wisdom in individual circumstances.

But I think we need some clarification here. because how often have I seen that assertion from Protestants especially “nice guys don’t go to Heaven. They need faith as well”
They say this because they don’t think Catholics have genuine faith and that we just work our way to heaven.

Powerful post. I just reread it and I have to say it totally inspirational. That idea of me being his favourite is a tough one to comprehend. Since He is supposed to love us all in the same way.

We will spend all of eternity discovering that his love for us is so much bigger than we previously thought.
Yes, thank you for this post. It’s the same thing I tell my kids, they’re all my favorites. I know God loves me like this but there are a lot of days when I just don’t feel worthy of it. Thanks for the reminder.
