Why do insults hurt if there is no truth in them? For the recipient, why not brush it off? If the truth is good for us why does it hurt? What is the difference between telling the truth, being brash and an insult? Why does it matter how we say things? Shouldn’t people learn to take things with a grain of salt or forget offenses? Is it a matter of bullying, oversensitivity, immaturity and insecurity? How do words hurt you if they are not truth?

If everyone took care of themselves and had high self-esteem words would not hurt. It is the recipient’s fault for letting someone’s words and beliefs about them hurt. If you truly believed you were the best person on Earth nothing would hurt you.

Insults hurt because we understand that someone INTENDED to harm us.
This is never a good feeling.
It’s not our fault if it hurts us. We can overlook these insults, yes, be most people would be kidding themselves if they said that people can’t hurt them by the vicious things they say.

For example:
If I were to write
“Why do you always ask such stupid questions?” You would right so be very angry and probably hurt. Is that your fault? No, its the fault of the person intending to harm you and your good name.

Insults mock the Maker. They chip away at the dignity of people. They set out to make one LESS.

Which we are never to do. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. We have the same Father in heaven. Christ is our brother. We have no right to wound with our words.

I know when someone I care for (friend or family) makes a caustic statement, or an insult, in my presence; it’s more than words themselves. It is the fact that the words are being said by someone I admire, and that just hurts. Insults stated by strangers, not so much I guess.
