I said as much. The question is how we know that. Whether it is from reason alone or from revelation. That the universe had a beginning in time is not in question.Katholish,
To anybody who reads Question 46, Article 1
it should be crystal clear that Aquinas is saying the universe did not exist from eternity, but it had a beginning.
Actually, the basis of this thread is to take the premise that the universe had a beginning in time and use that to prove God’s existence. Yes God exists. Yes the universe had a beginning in time. St. Thomas, however, makes it clear that the universe’s beginning in time cannot be used to prove God’s existence because we could not know that the universe had a beginning in time without accepting God’s revelation as a premise. It’'s the basis of this thread’s point.
Try not to get mad, I think you are merely misunderstanding what my points are. That isn’t to say that we agree on everything, because we do not. The question is whether or not we can know that the world is not eternal without revelation. Aristotle and St. Thomas clearly say no. I am trying to support that claim. This is at least the third time I’ve seen you make conclusions that are obviously wrong or negligent of critical pieces of the subject.
At this point I have to be suspicious about motive.![]()
