i would say that in our free society with religious “tolerance”…

yours is a very valid question.

i also think that it’s not one we as Christians should really get caught up in. the church grows more through persecution than it does in times of comfort. this doesn’t mean we go looking for persecution, it just means we don’t fight against it when it comes. we love and forgive.

to answer “why pray to end abortion”, don’t you see that that is asking Jesus to act. if you were trying to end abortion (instead of trusting Jesus to answer your prayers) you would bomb abortion clinics, kill abortion doctors, and literally tackle women on their way into the clinic. you don’t do that though (i hope lol).

of course we are called to defend. we are never called to attack (except the gates of hell). i also would say we are not called to defend ourselves. we are called to defend others, but our own lives belong to God. none of the martyrs tried to defend themselves.

the reason europe is overrun by the influence of islam is not because of a lack of “crusading” by Christians, it’s because of a failure of Christians to love.

I’d say it is a failure to act and defend, actually. Sometimes loving someone means doing what is tough but necessary for them.
 
I am not defending what she did one little bit, but, to clarify, she did not make these offensive remarks on a network broadcast. It was in public though, at a “roast.”

Some of the answers seem to have assumed that ESPN broadcast these comments which they did not.

So, you are making “Sports Center” your god?

I am saying fire ESPN not as a boycott. A boycott assumes you will go back later if they change their ways. I am saying that since they have not fired her, they are secretly in agreement with her. Otherwise, they would have fired her right out.

If she had said what she did about Muhammad, any other religion, she would have been out the door like Don Imus that offended a Women’s basketball team. I think his firing was the correct response and I think her firing is also the correct response. Unless Christians respond they are going to let it pass with an unpaid weak vacation like she is on.

If you love Jesus prove it by firing ESPN peroid. If you do NOT fire ESPN you are telling Jesus you don’t love him, that you love ESPN over Jesus.

This is not a hard choice to make, Jesus or ESPN.

Yes, we do know that or have you forgotten Don Imus? He only insulted a Woman’s basketball team and he was rightfully FIRED.

I suspect that if you are not the boss and you as a worker of your employer said “f muhhammad” in a room full of muslims you would be fired.

If she truely asks for forgivenss, we should give it to her. But, her actions should have the appriopate consequences, which is her firing. And, since ESPN is secretly in agreement with her by not out and out firing her outright, we as chrisitans who love Jesus should fire ESPN.

Besides Bengal fan you have proven that you worship Sports Center, and by your actions could care less about Jesus. 😉

Right, we should decide to love Jesus by firing the idol of ESPN.

Either you love Jesus or you love ESPN. If you love ESPN than Jesus is going to say to you, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ( Matthew 7:23 ).

As for Bengal it is clear he worships his false idol of ESPN, and is following a false gospel — see what the real Jesus says about him below,

Bengal, if you have not figured it out, those who just lay around and do nothing are going to “eternal punishment”.

Thats a pretty bold statement. I mean how as a Christian can I presume to know the heart of another. I think everyone thats calling for ESPN to fire this woman or boycotting of ESPN, Disney, and ABC need to stop and think for a minute. I find her comment To be hideous. I don’t think that she should lose her job because of them. Were do you stop it I mean if she go to Work at CBS or another media outlet do we then boycott them. Because of this we do not allow her to make a living?

We in this country have come to demand the lose of peoples jobs and livelihood if they offend us. This is not the example that Jesus gave us It is not the Gospel that he preached. I seem to remember something about turning the other check. ESPN has delt with the comments and for now that should be enough. Pray for her but don’t crucify her.

All so the super bowl is being carried be FOX not ESPN.

who decides what the “appropriate” consequence is?? the appropriate consequence for us sinners is hell but God promises to spare us that if we trust in Him and follow Him. thank God for GRACE!!

Not that I recall? Did his fame or movies suffer? Did christians boycott Apoctalptical (sp?)
 
I’m assuming that since you never heard about this reported in the media that she is Jewish? Is that correct? If she were Muslim, Buddhist or something else it would’ve been nationally reported.
