Fire fighting, suicidal?

I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter, and a friend of mine told me that if I or anyone else was to die in a fire, then it would be classified as suicide because I volunteered to go into a burning building and it not being my Job (i.e., getting paid to do it). My question is: Is this correct?
 
Dear St, M,

Whether one is paid or not, risking one’s life to save another is an act of charity. Our Lord said that no one has greater love than to lay down one’s life for another (Jn 15:13). . More power to you. You’re in good company. Your friend needs to be introduced to Scripture.
