Dear friends, please pray for us. There is a fire burning out of control about 10-12 miles west of us. The winds are gusting up to 30-40 mph and although the wind is pushing the fire away from us, it can change at any minute. Also, the fire is moving into the Mescalero Apache reservation and several families live in the mountains, in the path of the fire. Many are being evacuated as we speak. I don’t know how many acres have been burned, but I know that there is not much the fire crews can do with the wind as bad as it is. So we beg Our Lord to protect us and put this fire out. Please ask Our Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, St. Michael and all our guardian angels to intercede on our behalf. St. Florian, patron of firefighters, keep our crews safe!

An update:
My SIL came over around eight last night and we were discussing the fire and she said, “We need a lot of prayers for this to get better.” And I said, “Don’t worry, I have my CAF prayer warriors on it. The last time I asked them to pray, I got results in 10 minutes!” (No lie, it was when I asked you to pray for my BIL with his family of 13 to find a house and ten minutes after posting, I got an e-mail that they found a house!)
Well, they had the fire mostly contained and under control by 10 p.m. last night! The crews are still working to put it out and I could see it smoldering up in the canyon behind our 100+ year-old church when I went to work at 1:30 this morning, but considering the winds were whipping up to almost 40 mph last night, it is nothing short of a miracle that many more thousands of acres haven’t burned. Many are calling it miraculous that the winds died down yesterday evening, although some are saying, “well, it was forecast that the wind would die down” (like the weather service is ALWAYS right
), but we know it was the power of prayer!
Thanks to you all and hopefully the fire will be fully contained and out by tomorrow!
