If this is how they still think in Spain, then I now understand why my old pastor (may he rest in peace) mentioned the Spanish Civil War martyred priests and nuns in almost every Sunday homily for months if not years, and made sure to tell us some were burnt.
 
Im in Spain right now.

The difference between 1936 and now is that most bishops and priests here are on the left. Those that aren’t are being systematically removed by the Church itself, so there’s no real need for murder and burning.
