They have causes but the causes are unknown?Do you believe spirituality and eternity are uncaused aspects of reality? If not what causes them?
Please define “beauty” in the absence of any other objects. Are goodness, justice, freedom, beauty and love adjectives?
Spiritual beauty exists in goodness, justice, freedom, physical beauty and love.
A comparative of what? Are goodness, justice, freedom and love comparatives and adjectives?Beauty only has meaning as a comparative. It has no existence on its own.
Nothing is independent. If transcendancy implies independence then nothing is transcendent.Do you believe anything is transcendent?
Is everything equally dependent?
See my post #422 above. Why is the First Cause dependent? How do you know the universe is eternal?
- A finite universe is required because in an eternal universe no First Cause is required. See the Kalaam argument. Only things with a beginning need a cause. An eternal universe has no beginning and hence no requirement for any cause, including any First Cause.
A criterion need not entail dependence. It is a means of recognition.2 A precedence criterion is required in order to justify the use of “First”. Precedence in time is a common choice, but there can be others. Whatever criterion is used, there is a dependence on the criterion chosen.
That is putting the cart before the horse! Horses existed before carts…3 An effect is required in order to justify the use of “Cause”. If there is no effect then there is no cause. In logic, if (cause => effect) then (~effect => ~cause). The cause is dependent on the existence of the effect.
And men did not need carts in order to exist!
We can determine their ontological precedence by their power. We know that persons are more powerful than things. They are also the ultimate causes of their actions whereas things are not.4 Time is required for causation to work at all. If there is no time then we cannot determine which of two objects came first, and hence are unable to distinguish between cause and effect.
In all four cases the First Cause is not independent but is dependent on something else.
Try 10 billion years ago. Try day two of Genesis. How do you know there was a time when there were no persons?
How do you know human beings are the only persons that exist?
Yes, they are.You don’t believe persons are the causes of their actions?
Do you understand how persons are the causes of their actions?
Scripture. What evidence is there for your belief?
How do you know Scripture is true?
BTW Thank you for answering my questions.![]()
