I am 36 years old and currently in RCIA. I have never made a confession in my entire life! Our parish is having a mission this week for Lent and our priest has said that the RCIA candidates can make their first reconciliation tonight if they wish. I plan to do so tonight. I am sure I will not get the “mechanics” of it right but I am sure they will also help me along. I would love to some prayers for me to allow the Holy Spirit to come to me and give me the courage and strength to give a truthful, sincere confession tonight.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

God Bless

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour after the hour of our death. Amen.

As a Cradle Catholic I used to fear Confession.
Now I love it. There is nothing like a clean Soul!
I will pray for you!

How wonderful! Speaking from experience (2009 RCIA ‘graduate’), it’s hard to beat the feeling of being completely freed from your sins through the Sacrament.

I am praying for you! 👍

Sometimes it helps me to sit down by myself and write a list of things I would like to confess before I go to confession (hopefully its not too long AHAHA!).

It helps me to think about my spiritual growth and allows me some reflection time with God. I will pray that your first confession is very healing. May God shine in your heart and you shine in His.

All went well for my first time! 😃

Thank you all for you prayers!

Awesome!

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us form the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy. Amen.
