I just wanted to offer some thoughts of mine on my first confession today.

One of the things that used to really keep me from checking out the CC was confession. I would think, isn’t Jesus enough, why tell your sins to a man. Well, I know now, the priest is just an intermediary for Jesus, that may also offer advice and a sort of counseling, and grant absolution through the power Christ entrusted with them. Truly confession today was one of the most terrifying things I have ever done, I have a very sinful past and have carried guilt for a long time. I have asked forgiveness many times when I was a protestant and still carried the guilt. I am not kidding when I say that about 5 minutes after I walked out of the confessional. I felt a huge peace descend on me, it was really strange and uplifting. I truly felt the peace of forgiveness. I always find myself asking for signs of God’s mercy and love. I really feel that is what happened. I just wanted to share my experience. What a great gift this sacrament is. I am really looking forward to confirmation now.

Congrats! I am so happy that your first confession was such a positive experience! 🙂

Continue to go frequently and regularly - it is well worth it!

:amen: Praise the Lord! Congratulations on your being a Catholic.
Thank you very much for sharing your awesome experience. I feel exactly the same peace when I walk out of the confessional.

I am very very very happy for you. There is another thread on “Frequent Confession” and we were discussing how frequent confession helps us grow spiritually and keep us from committing sins.

When will be your Confirmation? I am guessing it is this Easter?

:blessyou:

We met here again. Are we both promoting “Frequent Confession” … 😃 👍

Congratulations! 😃 I’m so happy you’ve discovered what a terrific blessing Confession is!

God bless you!

Congratulations!!! Isn’t it awesome to go to confession?
A true sense of peace does come over you. 🙂

Mine is coming this Wednesday evening. I’m not sure what I’m going to say. I’m praying hard for guidance.

Hi WordisLove 🙂 I just had my first confession recently too - on Wednesday (the 7th)! I remember getting in my car even though I was really not wanting to go and tell the priest about the bad things I’ve done in my past – but justy going anyway. And I also felt very peaceful and content afterwards. It’s really a great sacrament and it makes me all the more happy to be Catholic now that I’ve experienced it and know that I will continue to for the rest of my life 🙂

LeahInancsi I guess your’s was just shortly after I did mine – I hope it went really well for you 🙂

God acts in mysterious ways. I didn’t go Wednesday night. I’m going today a 4pm. It’s 2:15 now and I wasn’t wanting to go until I looked at my e-mail and saw your response in CAF.

The timing is perfect. The second I start to have doubts about a couple things, HE tips me on shoulder to remind me that He’s really with me.
