There was a week in which I could neither receive Holy Communion on the First Friday, nor on the First Saturday. When Sunday arrived I approached the priest and asked for permission to receive Holy Communion at mass that day, for the intention of fulfilling both First Friday, and First Saturday.

However, I heard once or twice I think, that for the First Saturday Devotion at least, Holy Communion must received on the First Saturday and no other day, is that true? Or does a priest have the authority to change the day on which one can receive Communion for fulfilling that Devotion? What about the First Friday Devotion?

What did the priest tell you?

The First Friday & First Saturday devotions are just that… for Friday & Saturday.

You can’t ask a priest giving you communion on Sunday to make it retroactively apply to Friday or Saturday.

I think the 1st Saturday can get changed to Sunday.

Sister Lucia’s confessor specifically asked her if the First Saturday communion might be done on Sunday instead by some people who had difficulty doing it on Saturday, because they lived far from a church.

Sister Lucia reported that Jesus said, “The practice of this devotion will be equally acceptable on the Sunday following the First Saturday when My Priests, for a just cause, allow it to souls.”

So the First Saturday communion can transfer to the Sunday if allowed by a priest.
