Hello, I’m working developing a Devotion to the Sacred Heart. I’m doing the First Friday Devotion, and I’m just wondering, why is it nine First Fridays?

Our Lady of Fatima stated that there was a specific reason why the First Saturday Devotion was for five consecutive First Saturdays. Does the First Friday devotion, have any similar significance behind if being nine consecutive Fridays, as there is behind the First Saturday devotion being 5 consecutive Saturdays?

It is a good question. I did a quick search and found this on the internet, which is probably the only plausible answer since Jesus did not explain Himself to St. Margaret Mary:

“The number nine is traditionally associated with a novena and finds its origin in the nine days that the apostles spent in prayer before Pentecost. A novena provides an extended amount of time for preparation and interior renewal.”
