First Friday devotion

Anyone doing First Friday devotion? I am pretty sure I did the Nine First Fridays as a kid or young teen, possibly more than once, but as that was a long time ago I decided it was time to do them again.

I don’t seem to hear much these days about First Fridays, especially compared to First Saturday devotion which seems to be very popular (promoted by Fr. Heilman, has threads on here, etc.)

i recently started. i am not sure i am doing it right though.

confession fri or sat
mass friday
adoration /benediction straight after mass for an hour.

today i read Isaiah during adoration/benediction.

From what I have read, the First Friday only requires Holy Communion on nine consecutive First Fridays, received in a state of grace.
Usually the Holy Communion is in the context of Mass for most people including myself.

The hour of adoration is an optional suggested practice. I’m sure there are areas where one can’t find an adoration chapel open on Friday - a lot of parishes only have it one day a week and often it’s not Friday. Fortunately I have two to choose from here so I can do that later.

The confession would only be needed before the Communion if not in a state of grace. I just went a week ago for First Saturday, which does require the confession within 8 days, so I’ll probably wait another week to go again.

Here’s the summary of both devotions I found. First Friday seems to have a lot fewer conditions.

I am finally in a parish that even HAS Mass on Fridays. Both prior parishes were close don Fridays. Sheesh. Makes it difficult to say the least!

This just boggles me. It’s weird enough for me to see a parish closed on a whole day (almost always I see them having at minimum one Mass), but picking Friday makes no sense.

At the new parish, the priest is the only one who works on Fridays.
I work Tues Weds Thurs and Sat & Sun

Everyone else is Mon-Thurs But the church is open, and they have noon Mass.

Just got back from FF! Ours runs 1-3. There were maybe 14 to start - one a whole family of 5… After Father set up the monstrance and host, about 10-15 minutes, the crowd was down to 6. I spent an hour or so - today’s rosary, then several Saints petitions. It was a very peaceful and enjoyable way to spend the afternoon!
