The strangest thing happened to me last Sunday. I was praying the Apostle’s creed that morning while getting ready, and as I said I believe in the forgiveness of sins, a very strong feeling came over me, and suddenly like a bolt of lightning I remembered I’ve not been to confession for a while. Then again the same thing happened in church when we recited the Nicene creed. I usually go every six weeks almost like clockwork, not of my planning, it just sort of happens that way. Last Saturday was 6 weeks since my last confession (I remember when it was cuz that day was the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, Sept. 15). I had not been thinking about going in for confession at all (I’ve been so super busy), I was totally jolted into it this past Sunday. I feel so extremely blessed to have been called to come to Jesus and receive the sacrament, and on top of that it’s First Friday and First Saturday this weekend. I’m so thankful!

Interesting. After reading that post about Saint Leonard of Port Maurice – how many will go to hell because, among many other things, they take confession too lightly – I felt I was going to confession too much, taking it too lightly. Like if we truly confess and are truly repentant, we would not be needing to go more than once a year or so (so I was thought).

But then the priest told me that spiritual advisors say to go at least once a month, and here you are telling me about these odd feelings that are telling you to go after six weeks. Makes me wonder…

Anyway, hopefully many people will be inspired to persevere through the full 5 month cycle…
