We did do something - we voted against this. The judges decided to overrule the law of the people and basically commit anarchy and just ‘do their own thing’. Now we are voting again on this! I don’t put too much hope in this though - if we have judges not obeying the law and overruling the will of the people - they need to be put in jail themselves.

We have what you would call the ‘9th Circus court’ here in California. I think that there are a lot of perturbed people about this and with all fascisms (of which the left espouses) they start breaking down the family, bashing Christians (because they are suing churches if they don’t follow the judges), and brainwashing our children.

Not just sit on the sidelines, my friend. While Catholics, Orthodox, and protestants snipe at each other on theological differences, we fail to unite as one voice against this. Had my child been in that class, he/she would have been absent that day on religious grounds, and I would insist he/she be with a new teacher.

Additionally, would the SF schools sponsor a trip to see a teacher married in a Catholic or Lutheran Church? :rolleyes:

We may not have the option to insist on a new teacher if that teacher was teaching the new same sex marriage curriculum.

I agree, but since when can any school teach discriminatory material?

Would any school public or private be allowed to teach that minority races are inferior for example?

Just for the record, of course I’m not saying that - I am just giving an example of a blatantly discrimintatory statement which legally may become the equivalent of anything that is advocated against same sex marriage.

Home schooling may be the only option – but technically even home school curricula have to be approved by the state— I think?!
 
I lived in San Francisco for a few years. Willie Brown was still the mayor at the time. When Gavin Newsom took over I had a very strange eerie feeling about this guy. I moved to the south. He profess to be a catholic, I wonder if he’s already been excommunicated. How sad.
 
Every one of those kids has a parent who signed a permission slip for that trip. Parents need to be involved with the children’s school, be on the board, be on the PTA, be present and make a difference.

I have a serious question on this issue: Are not parents required to fill out “permission slips” granting both the child and the school permission to be engaged in off school grounds activities?

If that is the case: Then why are the parents not standing up and saying not just “No! but Hell NO!!” ??

My Mormon kids are all grown. But now I get to worry about grandkids!

I agree about the permission slip issue, but don’t have the answer. Maybe it was billed as a “tour of city hall” without mentioning the marriage part? I have no idea.

As a teacher, I have to get parental consent. Maybe not so in the SF. But you raise a very good question. Where on earth are the parents!
 
After reading some of the other links posted on that site, I am thoroughly convinced that California aka “the Left Coast” is truly a bastion of crazy people. Thankfully the Rocky Mountains seem to keep most of them from wandering too far afield…

You are probably right, but in this case, the three states where gay marriage is legal are Calif. Mass. and Conn.

That’s East coast 2, West coast 1

According to the news reports, the parents did sign permission slips. Two parents did not, and so those two students stayed back at the school with another 1st grade class, learning what 1st graders should be learning.

Besides the overt political agenda here, it is once again, public schools wasting time with things that have nothing to do with educating students.

And we wonder why, on international test scores, American kids score near the bottom in the industrialized world. :rolleyes:
 
This is a perfect example of what happens when liberal judges
overturn the people’s will. Unfortunately, this will not be confined
to the east or west coasts if liberal judges are elected in the
SCOTUS. They can overturn what we in Texas have set up as
law, for example, the parental notification laws. As it is, the
law was stronger, parental approval (for a teen’s abortion) and
defeated as such, then modified to parental notification. Thank
God that as it is, it had led to fewer teen abortions.
