First Mass Tommorow!

Hello everyone! Tomorrow is my very first mass, and the beginning of my journey into the Catholic church. I’m going to start taking a homeschool version of the RCIA on request of the class director (I’ve been researching the Catholic faith for the past 7 months and have been protestant my entire life), and like I said earlier, tomorrow is the big day. So, is there anything I should do or keep in mind when I’m there? I’d appreciate some (name removed by moderator)ut from some experienced Catholics. Thanks!

First off, welcome!

As for Mass, don’t stress too much. Feel free to follow along as much as you feel comfortable. You are welcome to participate in anything except receiving Holy Communion. Other than that, just enjoy the experience!

First Impressions are lasting…Just whip out a $50 bill, snap it a few times, and then throw it into the collection basket. Don’t try to make change. I’m just joking around. Congrats on your instruction. Converts are usually better and loyal Catholics than those born into it has been my experience. Many blessings as to your future.

I dont know if you know how the mass is laid out at all. But at most Catholic Churches there is a song book and in it it describes the order of the mass, that may help you know what we are saying.
Also when we walk in, we dip our right hand in holy water and bless ourselves in the name of the father, son, and holy spirit. When people walk to the pews, they will genuflect towards the altar, out of respect for our Lord.
During the Our Father, the church may or may not hold hands, just incase you are wondering why the person next to you is offering you there hand.
And we shake hands with each other and say peace be with you…

Used to be Baptist, then switched to “non-denominational”, even though being “non-denominational” is in itself a denomination:shrug:. I made the decision to become Catholic because to me there was something not “right” with protestantism… there was something missing, something very big missing in it for me, and I discovered that big missing piece in the Catholic church. Once I found the church, I could feel all of those missing pieces in the puzzle suddenly coming together, and after I learned more about it, I finally felt a true and authentic connection with God. So here I am, ready to take my first step into God’s holy church.
