First Mother's Day Ideas

Hi all.

My wonderful wife will be enjoying her very first Mother’s Day this year and I want to make it memorable.

I know time is a great resource and giving her the day out and about is on the list of things that I can give her (i.e. day at a spa someplace).

Shopping, cooking & cleaning already are shared by both so by offering to do those doesn’t amount to much out of the ordinary.

That being said, I’m also soliciting ideas on what favorite 1st mother’s day surprises come to mind from you folks who may be willing to share ideas.

We established a tradition of doing things together on both Mother’s and Father’s days. Mom gets to pick on Mother’s day and Dad picks on Father’s day. I’ve never understood, a Mom wanting to get away from her family on Mother’s day, but maybe it’s just me. The first year, DD was just a 6 month old, so we took her to the park, and spent the afternoon with no distractions. The last few years (she’s 11 now), she asks me what I want to do today, and then we do what she wants to do. 😉 I don’t care as long as we all spend the day together!.
 
We usually just make an effort to have a “Date Night” and celebrate as a couple.
 
Mother’s Day is a day for children to honor mom. When children are little, they need dad or another adult to facilitate that - so, you and baby take mom to dinner or out someplace where she can spend time with her children.

Dates and romance things are for spouses on anniversaries, just because days, birthday, etc. Mother’s Day is the day to be told “mom, I love you”.

Also, do not forget to take some time for YOUR mom on mother’s day!
 
What my BIL did for my sister was get her a ring with their daughter’s birthstone in it and had my niece “give” it to her mom during breakfast. Their plan is to give it to my niece when she’s old enough not to lose it.

Breakfast in bed is always a nice thing to do.
 
just find a sheet of paper and write a letter telling her just how much you love and appreciate her.
