I am catholic and married for 27 years with 2 children. My wife and I were married 8 years before we even had our first fight. I was not as attentive as I should have been (married at age 21) and when we had a first problem it had stewed inside her for so long that she wanted me out. I left , but before the night was over she came to my parents home where i was staying and asked me to come back. Shortly after that she had a brief affair. I have tryed very hard to be more in tune to her over the years, but about once a year she decides we dont have anything in common and the marraige was a mistake. My mother died of colon cancer in 2004 and during that time I sought comfort with another woman. I confessed this to my wife as the guilt consumed me. I now suffer from chronic depression and have little joy in life. She tells me how hard it is to live with someone who has depression, and seldom offers any encouragement. I live in fear of being alone. I am trying very hard to reclaim my relationship with God, but feel like I have no way to repair this relationship or to be happy at all on my own. I appreciate your prayers and support.
