First Saturday, June 6 - why reparation?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The First Saturday of June (Month of the Sacred Heart) is this week. It is significant to me that the request for First Saturdays was made for the same reason as the First Fridays – Reparation. Why is reparation so important to God and why does it need to be more important to us ?

On December 10th, 1925, Lucia was then a Postulant Sister in the Dorothean Convent at Tuy, Spain, Our Lady appeared together with the Child Jesus, Who spoke first to Lucia:

“Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment, while there is no one who does an act of reparation to withdraw them for her.”

Our Lady then addressed Lucia as follows:

“Behold, my daughter, my Heart encircled with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce It at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Give me consolation, you, at least; and make known on my behalf that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all who on the First Saturday of five consecutive months confess their sins, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the purpose of making reparation to my Immaculate Heart.”

It is Jesus who requested us to make reparation to His Heart: (See HERE His apparitions to St. Margaret Mary, requesting First Fridays of Reparation) and to the Heart of His Immaculate Heart of His Mother, as He requested of Sr. Lucia. Why? It seems to me it is in order that we may be compassionate as our Heavenly Father is Compassionate; that we may be perfect as our Heavenly Father is Perfect. (cf Mt. 5:48). As St. Therese of Lisieux discovered for herself, so all of us who are called to holiness need to learn: our vocation is love. Keeping our eyes on Jesus, and beholding our Mother, let us by God’s Grace, listen prayerfully to their words and do the Truth we hear.

It is true Maria that as Christians we have this responsibility to help repair what damage people do to themselves and to each other. When Mary was asked by the three shepherd children why do souls go to Hell, Mary responded by saying that no one makes reparation for them which can be said simply no one prayed for them. It is a great responsibility to be a Christian even more that we have the resources to plea for our brother and sisters who are so enslave with their weaknesses, pride and sins. Certainly we do something for them so as to loosen them from their sins and weaknesses. Thank you for reminding us about these acts of reparation which the Lord and His Mother wants from us.

The “reminders” I post are for myself, first of all, but I’m grateful for your reply and your own sense of the responsibility we have to love and thus pray for one another. Our example is important, for if we do not live the Truth of Jesus which we want to share, we will do little to help others. The three shepherd children were very willing to pray and they also offered little sacrifices. We need to become like children who are so in love with our Mother Mary and our Lord Jesus, that we are quick to do whatever we can to console them as they weep over those who are sinning and running the risk of spending an eternity in hell.

“O my Jesus, pardon us and save us from the fires of hell. Draw all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.”

Mary, my Queen and my Mother, I am all yours. Keep me; guard me as your property and possession. Help me to bring Jesus to others as you did on this earth. Please pray for all your children.
