Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today is First Friday, and if you live or have relatives in Florida, I’m sure you are praying they will be safe through this hurricane, and praying also for all those on the East Coast who will be in the path of the hurricane or tornaodo, and danger from wind, storm surges and flooding.
God permits natural disasters but not without compassion for those who suffer. Indeed, in His great Mercy, we find many persons receive great graces during times of crises. We see heroic deeds done at great personal sacrifice, and we hear professions of faith, and hope and charity – things that we do not always see and hear on TV news.
For those of us who are able to participate at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and receivie Holy Communion in Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and tomorrow especially to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on this First Saturday, let us pray in thanksgiving for all God’s graces coming to our human family through Mary and in reparation for all that Jesus and Mary suffered for us on Calvary. For anyone unfamiliar with First Saturday devotion please see HERE
"O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in your servants, in the spirit of holiness, in the fullness of your power, in the perfection of your ways, in the truth of your virtues, in the communion of your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen. " – Prayer of Father Jean Jacques Olier, S.S. (1608-1657)
