First Saturday?

this month, we don’t have Early First Saturday mass 😦 but we have the Easter Vigil in the evening at 8:00pm - this mass is also counted for Sunday. I was wondering if I could attend this late mass and it could be considered as First Saturday?

Yup - on any First Saturday afternoon or evening Masses (ie vigils of Sunday) count as well. Sadly I’m sick and probably won’t go - I’m serving at Sunday mass so I have to make sure I’m ok.

That’s great! I am sorry that you are not feeling well. I hope you feel better quickly and will be able to attend Saturday mass.
 
Hey Water, I had this question as well. I was under the impression that it did not in fact count. But no matter, because are you really going to stop at 5 months ?

CSN, no, I don’t stop at 5 months, but after 5, I will start another 5.Who knows, tomorrow could be my last day on Earth. 🙂

I’m sure it’s fine. There is no other option for Mass anyway- the only Mass that can be celebrated on Holy Saturday is the Easter Vigil.
 
Wait a sec, I just realized this: the condition is not that we attend mass, but rather that we receive communion.
 
I think I heard on EWTN radio yesterday (I wasn’t paying full attention until it was too late) that the 1st Friday and 1st Saturday devotions are in this case, moved to the next Friday and Saturday of the month.

(Much like the feast of the Annunciation was moved from Sunday, the 25th to Monday, the 26th because Sundays in Lent take precedence over feast days.

And, where the Annunciation can take place any day of the week, the 1st Fridays and 1st Saturdays can only take place on a Friday or Saturday.)

PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I HEARD WRONG. 🙂
