On First Saturdays Our Lady requested that we keep her company while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary. Must the Rosary be prayed while we’re in church? She mentions the Rosary in two different ways. First she tells us to pray the five decades of the Rosary, then she asks us to keep her company while meditating on the mysteries. I’m a little confused:o .

You don’t have to pray the Rosary in church; you can do it at home (or somewhere else), although I do like to do it in church when possible.

“Keeping her company while meditating on the mysteries” is separate from praying five decades of the Rosary. But you don’t have to meditate on all the (15 or 20) mysteries. If you did that, you would spend less than a minute for each mystery, not really enough time to go very deeply into it. You can choose any mystery (mysteries) you like for your meditation. It would probably be best to choose one mystery each month and really spend some time with it.

More information can be found here: rosary-center.org/firstsat.htm

I’m boring and just pray a second Rosary usually - takes more than 15 minutes, but that’s fine with me.

Of course a nice alternative might be to do a Divine Mercy Chaplet and meditate on one or more of the sorrowful mysteries.

Also, when she mentions making the intention to make reparation for offenses against the Immaculate Heart, does this mean that we must mention this during Confession?

Only if we are aware of having sinned in this way. The offenses in question are the following:

  1. *]attacks upon Mary’s Immaculate Conception
    *]attacks against her Perpetual Virginity
*]attacks upon her Divine Maternity and the refusal to accept her as the Mother of all mankind
*]for those who try to publicly implant in children’s hearts indifference, contempt and even hatred of this Immaculate Mother
*]for those who insult her directly in her sacred images.

If we have not personally sinned in these ways, we can offer prayers in reparation for the sins of others, but we only confess our own sins.
