I prefer to get to church early enough that I can read the selections to myself. (Sometimes two or three times if the passage isn’t clear to me.) Then, when they’re proclaimed from ambo, pulpit, or lectern, I listen.
I’m more a visual learner. I’ve found the best way to let the Word sink into my soul is to read, then listen.
I recognize that there are other styles and preferences. If your life is becoming more Christ-like, you’re doing it the right way.
