I pray with lots of grumbling.
Wake up. Wallow in irritation for 5 minutes. Turn the overhead light on so that there is no doubt sleep is over.
Get my wife’s coffee and put it on her prayer table. Grumble about something.
Spend time with her in front of the home altar.
Recite psalm 63
Recite the Litany of Humility and wonder when it will take hold
Go through the day’s Gospel and have a conversation with the wife about whatever concerns are going on and how the Gospel dovetails with it.
Listen to something from Bp Barron.
Listen to the USCCB commentary on the day’s Gospel.
Deceive myself that if I sit praying longer, the mandate to exercise will disappear.
Get up, grumble some more, go to the gym.
