It’s fun to see the instant skirting of the new rules and wishes of the forum’s creators. Let’s see how many other ways we can be good little dissenters . . .
Orthodox ARE catholic. IMHO this would be the appropriate forum.By the way, if we want to ask a question about Orthodox, where do we post the question? Here, or in the Non-Catholic Religions forum?
If you’ll look at Joe Monahan’s profile, you’ll see that the location title has been changed to Eastern Catholicism. The Important Info sticky in this forum also lists him as mod. What does this mean for our reverent moderator Joseph Monahan? Is he out of a job? Is he still here to keep the peace? Where has he gone anyways!? Inquiring minds want to know!
It’s not your opinion that ‘counts’ as it were. You might use semantics to find a loophole, but I suspect you know that you are contrary to the purpose of the new forum.IMHO this would be the appropriate forum.
No, for the purposes of definition in this forum, Eastern Orthodox are not members of the Catholic Church and any blurring of that distinction by CAF members will fall outside the rules of this forum. Again, please read the Statement of Purpose. Thank you.Orthodox ARE catholic. IMHO this would be the appropriate forum.
Respectfully, it is the prerogative of the Forum moderators to get their heads together and decide on new formats. That being said, it may have been nice to forewarn the participants that a change was in the offings. However, its their call and that is what we live with. It’s fun to see the instant skirting of the new rules and wishes of the forum’s creators. Yes all of us are to blame. This only proves mankind is imperfect.Oh Please, lets just leave it that both sides are guilty of this un Christian attitudes of fights. There is no black and white here when it comes to who is and who are not dialoguing properly.
With all due respect we are catholic and have been so since the time of the Apostles. You are correct, in that we are not members of the Roman Catholic church but we are members of the Eastern Orthodox Catholic church. No blurring - just making the distinction here. No, for the purposes of definition in this forum, Eastern Orthodox are not members of the Catholic Church and any blurring of that distinction by members will fall outside the rules of this forum. At the risk of being scolded, maybe the forum should have been named “Eastern (In Communion With Rome) Catholicism” ?It’s not your opinion that ‘counts’ as it were. You might use semantics to find a loophole, but I suspect you know that you are contrary to the purpose of the new forum.
The distinction I made is not negotiable. Blurring of that distinction by CAF members will be considered in contravention of the rules of this forum and subject to disciplinary action. So we are now restricted from defending our faith and have to tow the line as who is really Catholic? What kind of dialogue or debate is that? No, for the purposes of definition in this forum, Eastern Orthodox are not members of the Catholic Church and any blurring of that distinction by CAF members will fall outside the rules of this forum. Ok, so I guess we’ll see our Orthodox (and Catholic OrthodoxNo, for the purposes of definition in this forum, Eastern Orthodox are not members of the Catholic Church and any blurring of that distinction by CAF members will fall outside the rules of this forum. Wonderful news.If you’ll look at Joe Monahan’s profile, you’ll see that the location title has been changed to Eastern Catholicism. The Important Info sticky in this forum also lists him as mod.
No, you are free to do so, you simply no longer have a ‘home’ as it were to do it in. The non-Catholic Religions sub-forum seems the appropriate place now.So we are now restricted from defending our faith and have to tow the line as who is really Catholic? What kind of dialogue or debate is that?

Actually that is where we started. The Eastern Christian Forum was opened for the purpose of respecting our Catholicity. Guess now it has been taken back by some who think they have the right to cutail other peoples opinions or beliefs. No, you are free to do so, you simply no longer have a ‘home’ as it were to do it in. The non-Catholic Religions sub-forum seems the appropriate place now.
p.s. it’s toe the line
I think as this is Catholic Answers Forum they are not trying to undermine you as Catholics, it’s just a ‘Roman’ Catholic Site. So, to relieve any confusion over what context of Catholic we are talking about is why this rule exists. For any young Roman Catholic who wants to come in and learn about the Eastern Orthodox Church on a RC site, they may come here and click on Eastern Christianity, and get all types of confused. I think that’s what that’s all about. With all due respect we are catholic and have been so since the time of the Apostles. You are correct, in that we are not members of the Roman Catholic church but we are members of the Eastern Orthodox Catholic church. No blurring - just making the distinction here.
Thank you
Well, just to clear the air, is it Ok to refer to ourselves as Orthodox catholic because thats what our identity is and what we really are? We didnt loose our catholicity when the schism occured. This is what is taught and this is what I firmly believe. The distinction I made is not negotiable. Blurring of that distinction by CAF members will be considered in contravention of the rules of this forum and subject to disciplinary action. All those of you who are insulted by the term Roman Catholic when we Orthodox Catholics use it want to set this guy straight?Man, I got really confused when I was searching for my posts. Anywho, I look forward to seeing if this indeed solves any fighting issues.

Personally I hope certain anti- polemics will not be tolerated any longer and substantial appologetics threads will not just disappear while zelous Catholics are admonished and rude non Catholics are encouraged. There needs to be a uniform standard of charity and respect applied to all involved.Unfortunately, we have discussed this when the forum was the ‘Eastern Christianity Forum’ which has been archives so one can no longer access it. But to answer, we as Orthodox are Catholic. We never left that One Holy Catholic & Apostolic Church we recite in the Nicean Creed IN IT’S ORIGINAL FORM at every Liturgy.
You may not recieve this since under the new title and rules it can be erased by the moderaor.
