First time COTT

Last night was my first time receiving communion on the tongue and I did it mostly as a sign to myself that now it is Lent and a time to be humble and practicing penance. After I received on the tongue, I felt extremely warm, light headed and fuzzy. Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious.

I’m an old timer and we started with the tongue. No it never made me feel warm and fuzzy but often I felt a little closer to Christ whether on tongue or hand. If you did feel warm and fuzzy it could be that the attitude of Humility caused Christ to be pleased with you rather than whether you recieved it on your tongue or not, it could also been Christ laughing with you thinking that it should make a difference ( in a nice friendly teasing way ) or it could be that the heaters were on a bit that night lol. You can decide. But the great thing is you recieved the sacrement ; keep it up . And if you can remember say a little prayer for me too.

I’m glad you’ve finally seen the light and started accepting our Lord in the only proper way.

Of course, He remains present in the very room before Communion even begins; where the Tabernacle is, there is our Lord Jesus Christ! I think this debate over COTT vs. CITH is getting very tiresome and silly. He wants us to be virtuous and humble in real life, not just in Mass. Humility while receiving the Blessed Sacrament is fine, but it matters nothing if you’re proud that you’ve done it (not saying that you are, gatewood). Having courage enough to buy lunch for a homeless man, actually talking to him in the restaurant for an hour, and trying to think of ways to help him… there is real humility.

It’s fine and good that you receive our Lord COTT and it’s fine and good to receive Him CITH, but there’s a world of difference between receiving Communion without love for fellow men, and receiving Communion with love for fellow men. I am glad you felt the warmth of God’s very own presence consumed by your body, but if you didn’t leave Mass beaming to the outside world with a smile as wide as the River Thames in thanks for having received Him at all, then it was fruitless!

That is most excellent! You weren’t bragging at all… I sincerely wish I could give you an answer in reply to the actual O.P. question, but I can’t receive Him yet! Get back to me on April 24. Real joy is all we need, no matter how we receive Him, and He gives it to us directly.

Congrats! My husband will be receive Jesus for the first time on April 24th as well We will keep you in our prayers. Welcome home!

This is a beautiful post, except for the bolded part above.
I understand that by your use of “emotion-cons” you may just trying to be funny,
but it is this type of attitude that can cause a lot of trouble. I am not sure about Canada,
but here ***in the US, receiving in the hand is an acceptable way to receive communion, and is in no way “less” proper *than receiving on the tongue.**Gatewood,

Your experience was truly a grace from God.
While I have never had this feeling when I have received on the tongue,
I always feels God’s presence when I hold Him in my hand.
