my priest has set up a meeting for me with a priest who “specializes” in spiritual direction. We have spoken on the phone, he is extremely kind. I have spoken to priests at length before about spiritual questions, theological questions, struggles, advice. But none of this has ever been consistent or official. I also am familiar with regular confession.
My questions, what will he ask of me? what should I be prepared to talk about? how much should I tell him? will he ask me to make a confession at some point? and how often will we meet (if he accepts me)…I will be further away and I am in crisis right now, so more frequent initially would be helpful.
Thank you,
handmaiden

If he is to help you and remember he will be accompanying you on your journey ] he needs to know everything about you - you should withhold nothing from him .

He may , or may not hear your confessions - some SDs do - some do not .

How often will you meet - frankly that depends on him - how much time he has available.

I realise this may not seem a very helpful answer - sorry about that , but it is intended to give you some practical advice before you meet with this priest .

will he ask me questions, or should i just prepare a kind of goals, issues, spiritual history story?? I am a little scared, and want him to accept me. he may not want me because i may have to move in a few months…but to where i move there will be no eastern catholics, and very few catholics. I would travel from time to time to see him…it would be worth it as I consider my journey the most important thing in my life

He will want to know what sort of a person you are , and so may well ask questions - possibly of the how do you see the state of your spiritual life ? what’s your prayer life like ? where do you see your spiritual life fitting in with your worldly life - do you see any clashes. He’ll want to know about you as a person.

All this will be done in a very non-threatening way - more as a general conversation .

If he’s anything like the one I used to have he will also tell you he’s not there to tell you what to do - he’s there as you learn about yourself , and what God is wanting you to do .

thank you so much,
is there a donation which is standard? I do not want to neglect if so, or insult if not.

again,
thank you

Can’t help you with that I’m afraid - I’ve no idea .
