First Time Volunteer Work

Hi I was wondering what would be a good idea for some first time volunteer work.

Im 19 years old and Im really interested in counseling. I currently do not have any college degrees. I am also interested in things such as coaching sports. My head football coach from high school has been asking me to come up and help coach but it interferes with my schooling schedule. But otherwise that’s something I’d really like to do!

I’ve thought about working with some of the prisoners in county prison, I know my archdiocese has something set up for that.

I’m not really planning on leaving the state, but if I do it will have to be after the summer school semester.

Any other Ideas??
 
I volunteered after school at a local retirement home. It wasn’t Catholic, but I ended up working one-on-one with a Catholic woman, visiting her and praying the rosary together. I didn’t need technical experience, though you want to be comfortable with the elderly.

Look around at the Catholic Charities website too.
