Tell your friends! The USCCB recently came out with an awesome vocational video called “Fishers of Men.” It captures many aspects of the priestly duty without downplaying the vocation of the priest. In fact, it powerfully and properly elevates the priesthood to show its divine origin. The USCCB website says,

"The Bishops’ Committee on Vocations presents a program for priests to actively invite men to consider a vocation to the priesthood. This program is entitled Priestly Life and Vocations Summit: Fishers of Men. This project is a presbyteral workshop which utilizes the appreciative inquiry method of asking priests about their most positive experiences in the priesthood.

It is the hope of the Bishops’ Committee on Vocations that this project will bring about a renewal of the priests in the United States and also lead to the regeneration of priesthood itself. This presbyteral workshop is based on interviews with priests. The actual convocation with the priest includes their testimonies of positive priestly experiences, establishing strategies for promoting priestly vocations, and creating a structure within the presbyterate for inviting men to consider the priesthood."

To watch a short clip of the 20 minute video, click here

To order the DVD, click here (only $3.30)

Show this to your friends and family, and especially to young men. The more this video spreads, the more vocations will spread with the help of our prayers!

God bless you all,

Scott

If you haven’t seen, it is an absolute awesome movie:thumbsup: !!!

That video is the BEST! I’ve seen it three times, and each time I see it, I wish that there was one like it for women.😃

I cried - sobbed is more like it - when I saw it. Absolutely AMAZING job they did with this!!!

I wonder if it’s ever been on YouTube?

I know this thread is old, but I finally just watched it and want to bump it to the top of the list so those who haven’t watched it yet may notice it. This video is awesome. The men here are great examples of priests- we need more priests like them.

Oh yes, there are a few postings of it there. That’s where I saw it!

The part where they process with Our Lord in the streets of the Bronx, with the people staring, some devout some not…and the old man hanging out the window above, waving and (I think) praising God…my God, it was so powerful and beautiful.

I first watched this video after mass one night on campus. I thought it was pretty good, but not exactly moving (I think I was distracted by the pizza I was eating).

The second time was at the end of a retreat. I quite literally cried, which is not at all normal for me.

It is a great video, and I would strongly recommend it.

The only negative comment I heard was someone wishing that there were videos that treated all the vocations as well as this one treats the priesthood.

While I would agree with this somewhat, the point needs to be made that without priests, we would not have access to several of the sacraments. We need priests first and foremost, then the rest will follow.

I watched this video last night with a couple of seminarians visiting from England who attended the Royal English Academy in Spain…I must say, it was well worth my time. I have already been discerning a call to the priesthood for sometime now…this video has made that call feel even stronger now.

It was quite well done. Very inspiring, and worth the production costs which I’m sure wasn’t cheap.

Can somebody please tell me which music is being used in the intro

I’ll admit, I haven’t watched it in a couple months, and am too lazy to look it up. But its the Tantum Ergo, no?

The video is good. It is not expensive–like $4. I got two and sent one on to a holy parish priest I know.

It is worth getting!

Good to show at the parish, if it is possible.

Ave Maria!

I love the video, too! I like that accident scene, where the priest emerges out of his car like some special-forces combat fighter. Nice effect
