Five Fold Scapular Requirements?

I don’t know. I would just do any of the requirements for the individual scapulars. The brown is the only one that has requirements, and that is only for the Sabbatine privilege. Pray the Little Office or Rosary everyday, wear the scapular, and live chastely according to your station in life.

I know the with the blue it’s recommended that morning and night after crossing yourself, you pray, “I will protect myself with the shield of the Immaculate Conception.” There is also a plenary indulgence attached to the blue if you pray six Glory Be’s, Hail Mary’s, and Our Father’s in honor of the Trinity and Immaculate Conception (other conditions for indulgence being met).

As for the white, red, and black, I think all you need to do is where them faithfully.

As for the medal, St. Pius X said you could substitute it for the various scapulars, so you can 🙂

Is that the promise that if you will be delivered from purgatory the Satuday following your death? Was this ever confirmed by the Church? Even if it wasn’t it seems to be something that can be believed in good faith.

Where can I get a book that has the Little Office? Does the priest have to specifically say “You have the permission to substitute five decades of the Rosary for the Little Office”?

Is that the 433 daily plenary indulgences? Are you sure that is true because that seems like a lot.

So you only require one medal for five scapulars but five blessings for the one medal, correct?

Pope John XXII confirmed it in 1322. 🙂

I don’t think you need permission. Hmm, I think if you do a search online you might be able to find a place to get a book for the Little Office.

I’m not sure what St. Alphonsus was talking about there since one plenary indulgence wipes out all temporal punishment–it’s pointless to have more than one per day :hmmm:

Did your five-fold scapular come with a pamplet with the investiture blessing? That should suffice as it has blessings for each individual scapular incorporated into it. Remember, with scapulars, it is you who is getting the blessing, not the scapular. So once you are invested with the scapular you can just substitute the medal and you’re good–no more blessings required.

Hope that helps:)

You can offer up indulgences for the souls in purgatory. However, are you able to gain more than one plenary indulgence a day? Isn’t praying for the Pope’s Missionary/General intentions a requirement for a plenary indulgence? Would that mean 866 prayers for all of those indulgences? I have the “Handbook of Indulgences” so I could check to see the requirements for a plenary indulgence.

Doesn’t the blessing refer to subsequent scapulars, not the medals? What does Pope St. Pius X mean when he wrote:
It must be blessed with a separate blessing for each of the scapulars in which the person has been enrolled and for which the wearer wishes it to suffice.
Did your five-fold scapular come with a pamplet with the investiture blessing?
I haven’t bought one yet. I’m just trying to get the information before I enroll.

Hi
I wouldn’t toss aside the scapular, I’d put away my medals first.
I have a brown scapular that reads “He who dies wearing this scapular will not suffer the fires of hell” or something very close to that.

Medals are nice and fun to collect but if they are passing these five folds around to all the priest’s I think I will look up St Michael’s and get some for the family,
It does include the brown but not the green.

These things can be confusing, I went to a site one of you listed it here and then went back to it and it’s not available.
Gee that site had the info, all about the five fold.

Oh well
I plan on dieing with mine on.
Mike
