Background: My wife and I are taking a course on how to become Spiritual Directors. A bit ago we were reading through the notes about Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, specifically how Paul talks about tradition in a positive way.
I already knew what the deal was about the “good traditions” vs “bad traditions” in the New Testament. What I didn’t know at the time was the NIV changed the word tradition to “teaching” in a couple of places, namely when it was spoken of in a positive way.
So, after one too many conversations with Sola Scriptura proponents and finding out that the NIV changed the word, I decided it was time to come up with a diagram on how Tradition is actually presented in the New Testament. So here it is.
As always, feedback welcome.
