Flowers?

I noticed sometimes there are flowers in church? what kinds of flowers are usually used and is there a reason for this? Might seem like a strange question, but I was curious!
Are certain flowers used for certain days like there are different colors for different times? such as Lent=Purple (I think?) Do the flowers have to be a certain color?

We use flowers any time but Lent. There are no rules about colours or kinds, although you’ll find lots of poinsettias at Christmas and lilies at Easter. In many cases the flowers we buy are the ones that will last the longest.
