Hey, did you ever follow up on this? šŸ™‚ I’ve been on and off the forums and don’t know if I missed it 😃
Oh no! Lol. I forgot all about it due to finals. (shudder).

It’s all about the history for this story. My sister dated a guy who was nice at the time, but I guess he had the 20 year old onset of mental illness situation. (dry sarcastic voice here). Anyways, he strayed from his Catholic roots, began drinking and treating her badly, so she broke it off.

Fast forward a year later…he secretly gets around her and starts dating one of her friends (the friend had never met him, see how sneaky this was?). Anyways, he engages this women very publicly, at which point sister and friend find out what happened. After about 6 months of engagement, he breaks it off, very publicly. Then comes the confession: he had been pretending to be Catholic and chaste and was essentially sleeping around during the engagement.

My sister and her friend stayed close friends and got away from him, fast! This happened just over the summer, so it was very recent.

Well, MIL is close friends with the family so you are all gasping right now seeing where this is going. She told him to RSVP directly to her and approved his uninvited date. Not only did he show up, he brought along the girl with whom he was committing adultery during his engagement. Besides that, this was a formal celebration with a stiff headcount. Security told him no. He was outside the door for an hour with his date, as all our guests were coming in!!!

My sister and friend were nothing short of terrified as this person wasn’t just a jerk but abusive as well. They literally hid in the bathroom. My dad attempted a polite request for him to leave which he completely ignored. But this was something I didn’t take into account: the bride and groom are BUSY during the reception! I literally got dragged away to do things. The next thing I know he and his date had snuck/run in. Security said they couldn’t physically remove anyone due to liability, so our options were 1) leave him be or 2) call the police into our reception!!!

Anyways, that’s the crowning horror story of the day, lol. Everything else was simply splendid.

Your pictures are GORGEOUS!!!
Congrats on the day, and I hope the jerk face didn’t ruin it for everyone.

Wow!

You impress me with your maturity and coolheadedness! I am so grateful that, even though both my mom and my dear MIL tried to influence me about our wedding plans, I got what I wanted for the most part and it was a lovely, simple wedding.

I hope you can get everything cleared up with the IRS. Perhaps you can even check with them yourselves, explain the situation, and tell them you aren’t sure what to do next. Maybe they can advise you. I commend you for your idea of ā€œhiding outā€ on campus. I pray you need never have contact with them as long as their behavior is so evil.

I must agree that your MIL was extremely unkind to perpetrate this man and his gf on you, your sister, and her friend. How very cruel as they are afraid of him! Thankfully, you obviously had enough male protection and your own wise forethought to avoid a huge catastrophe. šŸ‘

You are a beautiful bride! You have excellent taste! May God bless you and your husband. May you always love and cherish one another. :blessyou: Take care but keep us informed. I know many people are praying for you (especially as you wait for final grades and such)!
