I’m a nominal Protestant who for a few months has been seriously working toward confirmation in the Catholic Church (RCIA, attending weekly Mass, etc.), and I pray the Lord prepares me for the sacrament with delicate haste. Part of my devotional practices has been praying the Rosary as often as I can. I’ve learned to appreciate the quiet and the contemplation of Jesus as I pray with Our Blessed Mother, but I struggle with maintaining focus.
What are some practical thoughts and disciplines to bear in heart and mind as I pray to Our Blessed Mother, and how can I effectively contemplate both the prayers of the Rosary in light of the Sacred Mysteries, as well as the Sacred Mysteries themselves? My Bible is bookmarked at the different verses, and I read them aloud as an effective aid to my focus.
I’m still learning to love the Virgin Mary and all Christ’s saints. Their lives I’m beggining to recognize as tremendous helps in approaching the throne of God with fitting humility and reverence, and with appreciation for those whom He guided in the past.
Thanks in advance for any help. God be with you.
