Hello. I talked to a protestant who told me he is a “weak christian”–in his own words. He told me that Jesus forgave Peter even though he denied him and didn’t ask him to seek forgiveness, but instead sought Peter out out of love. Peter was a weak christian, just like him, and sinned, and Jesus still forgave him.
I told him Jesus said those who endure to the end will be saved, but he responded to me with this story about told me he knows what he should do but admits he is a weak christian who is struggling with sin and troubles and doesn’t know if he can change. As in, it might be too difficult for him to bear.
He is also going through a marriage separation with his wife and has not seen his daughter in two years and is tempted to divorce his wife and seek a remarriage.
Thoughts about this from a RC point of view?
