Dang Lions … defense dug themselves a hole against Carolina which Matthew Stafford couldn’t quite bring the team out of. They have got to start taking early leads and keeping them instead of depending on Stafford’s fourth quarter comebacks.

The Big Ten looks very strong in the rankings, but I think Wisconsin and Penn State may be overrated. Wisconsin also has an easy schedule.

Overall, it looks like Alabama and the rest. If they face Clemson again in the final, the Tide will win and should have won it all last year.

Some thoughts:

-The Big Ten is probably the best overall conference this season, but that’s usually argued later after the bowl games.

-Alabama is strong again and deserves the #1 rank. It appears the only potential upset on their remaining schedule might be their last game at Auburn, but I doubt it.

-#2 Clemson is now #7 Clemson. They miss Deshaun Watson. (and the Texans may finally have a QB)

-Penn State is probably better than I’ve given them credit for. The next 3 weeks should decide who ends up in the B10 championship for the East vs Wisconsin (West)

-Ohio State is playing scary football right now, but can they continue?

My Top 5 (atm)
  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia
  3. Penn State
  4. Ohio State
  5. TCU
…and the Eagles are 5-1 !! 😯

Steelers took down the undefeated Chiefs, thanks to James Harrison!

And today I was kind of wishing Big Ben had retired. Yoi.
Can’t you just hear Myron Cope critiquing the Jacksonville game after Ben threw 5 picks? Would have been a commentary for the ages!

Hey congrats to the Steelers beating the Chiefs! That was an impressive win in K.C.! Maybe the beating by the Jaguars woke them up a bit.

Well, anyway… my mind is on college football this weekend.

I so want a Penn State vs Alabama national championship. These two teams have a history of intense battles, but also mutual respect during the Paterno era. I’m certain it would be quite entertaining if it does happen…

Penn St. will be playing Michigan Saturday night, and the fans are preparing a “white out” in Happy Valley. It will be 107k+ strong & a crazy atmosphere for sure!

Sorry to any Michigan fans here, but I expect PSU to win the game by a comfortable margin… Now, if it turns out to be a close game, or if Michigan somehow pulls off the win, then I think Ohio St. is probably the best team in the East, and will likely go on to represent in the B10 championship.

If Penn St. wins, it will set up for an amazing game to watch the following week in Ohio!

Penn State proved today they are a contender.

But I think Alabama is still easily the best team in the land.

Penn State has a big task ahead. Will they maintain control of the East by defeating Ohio State, or will they give it up to them in Columbus.

This is what makes college football so exciting. Yuuuge game tomorrow 3:30pm EST!

OSU favored? (-6). PSU put up 42 points on the #1 defense in the nation last week. I like their chances…

Edit: Also note, OSU had 2 weeks to prepare for this game.

Btw, how about Notre Dame (6-1) after crushing USC last week? Talk about a team coming on strong. How good are they? I believe they moved up 4 spots in the rankings.

They play NC State next which could be a real challenge. But, USC was supposed to be too…

Maybe you can’t imagine my disappointmwnr when i found out that the Football beign discussed was American football 😦

It was a triple yoi!
Hey Denise, how’s this for a Superbowl matchup? Steelers vs. Eagles. The heck with whatever warm water village they are supposed to have it in. Just play the game in early February, 12 degrees Fahrenheit, 14 inches of snow on the ground, in Happy Valley (for the uninitiated, Penn State University Stadium), State College, PA, right in the middle of Pa, 110,000 people, serving only Philly Cheesteaks sandwiches, Primanti Brothers sandwiches, and Iron City and Schmidts beer. (and maybe some sausage and pepper delights). 50% discount on food and beer for any fan who shows up in shirtsleeves. It would be one for the ages.

OSU squeezes out a win in epic fashion in what was the best game of the entire season.

But PSU makes it close enough where they have a playoff case even with the loss.

They are a contender. I just don’t think anyone can beat Alabama unless Alabama beats themselves or has a key injury (like last year).

Georgia is the other top team, but them beat ND by a point isn’t worth as much to me as Alabama’s experience.

Penn State really tested OSU’s mettle, but J.T. Barrett’s excellent second half performance was the key to their comeback victory. Their defense was also impressive by shutting down Barkley. Other than the 36 yd TD run, he ended up with only 44 total yds on the ground on 21 carries.

I hope you’re right. PSU will have to win their remaining games in impressive fashion. But even if they do, and still not make the playoffs, they would most likely go to play in the Rose Bowl, … except that this year it’s hosting one of the playoff games, so can’t even look forward to that possibility! 😞

OSU controls their own destiny now…

Interesting college games today (Week 10)

PSU @ MSU 12pm -PSU vs another staunch run def

WIS @ IND 12pm -Potential upset

CLEM @ NCST 3:30pm -Could decide who plays in the ACC championship (Atlantic)

OSU @ IOWA 3:30pm -You never know

OKLA @ OKST 4pm -Key Big 12 game

LSU @ ALA 8pm -SEC rivalry game

VT @ MIAMI 8pm - Important ACC (Coastal) game

Saturday thoughts:

I don’t want to make any excuses for Penn St. They were beaten by a pretty good MSU team who had also beaten their top rival Michigan earlier. Penn St. was without their best offensive tackle and defensive end due to injury. I don’t know how much (if any) of a difference they would have made toward the outcome, but that’s the way it goes when facing 3 of your top physical opponents in consecutive weeks. Roster depth is important. Their playoff hopes are gone, but may still have an outside shot at the B10 championship game, although rather unlikely.

Wisconsin has proven to be considered among the top teams. I haven’t followed them closely, and for some reason thought they had an early loss on their schedule, but was mistaken. They are undefeated (with a somewhat easy schedule), and a very good young running back. I don’t know if they are a legitimate top 5 team, but they continue to improve. I thought going to Indiana could expose them to a potential upset, but they dealt with early issues in the game, then ended up with a comfortable win.

Ohio State: Did anyone… in the entire country… see that coming? Iowa can be a tough place to play.

Alabama is a great football team, but still human.

Notre Dame continues to impress. I don’t like how many points they gave up aganist WF, but this is the most legitimate ND team i’ve watched in years.

Georgia wins again…

Clemson hangs on in a tough game at NCST. Looks like Miami and Clemson could be headed for the ACC championship game.

Other teams on the rise: Washington, Auburn
