I have been periodically been writing down the sins of my past in preparation for the general confession before Holy Week. I wanted to ask for your prayers, that I wouldn’t be negligent in taking the time to remunerate all my sins.
It’s kind of overwhelming sometimes, as I am going to confess on Thursday but I’ve only gotten through my sophomore year of college (I’m 31). I just wanted to ask for the grace to remember and discern the sins that were truly mortal, without letting scrupulosity mess with me.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayers for a good confession. Just do the best you can and God will do the rest.

Mary.

Exciting time for you! Welcome home to the Catholic church! You can take your notes with you and please remember that Jesus loves you beyond your own comprehension. The priest will assist you. Rest assured that all your sins will be forgiven during absolution. Hold nothing back out of fear or embarrassment, but if you should recall another sin at a later time, also recall that all your sins are forgiven during absolution. I’ll be praying for you.😃

:signofcross: Heavenly Father, give Bdonoho strength and discernment as he (she) makes his (her) first confession; give abundant graces and insights to help prepare for this beautiful Sacrament and put peace in his (her) heart with knowing that God is with him (her) as she enters the Catholic Church.

(aside - I remember well my first confession - if words had an aroma / smell, the confessional would have smelled like a raw sewage pit. BUT … I was so glad to get the garbage out of my system and to receive absolution and God’s grace. Priests have heard it all - so relax, the priest will guide you and tell him that this is your first confession and he will help you through this Sacrament.)

May the Holy Spirit bring to your remembrance the things He wishes you to confess. Amen. :signofcross:
