For a Kind Homeless Man

Today on my way home from college I stopped at a gas station to buy a scratch off ticket. As it wasn’t God’s will that I should win, I proceeded out. On my way to my car, I ran into an elderly man with a cart full of garbage bags. I can only assume he was homeless. He was a kind man. At first he thought I was a member of the LDS faith by what I was wearing (my usual getup is slacks, a white short sleeve shirt in the warmer months, and a bow tie.) I told him I’m a Catholic, and he said he is also a Catholic, but he often goes to churches if other faiths, including a Baptist church and Synagogs. Interestingly enough, he didn’t ask for money. When we said our farewells I went to my car and I saw that he was going through the garbage cans looking for bottles to cache in.

Please pray for this man. Please help him get the financial support he needs and for his safety.

Dear God,
Watch over your children,
Especially those with no homes to return to at the end of long and weary days.
Protect them from all harm and keep them from despair.
Open the hearts and eyes of those of us with blessings to share.
