Preemptively: don’t read into this too much as an attack on Sacred Tradition. There are a whole lot of other traditions that look pretty goofy from the outside.

…What?
God is written about in sacred scripture, but it does not say in the scripture that it is the sole authority. The scripture makes clear that God holds all authority.

Your tradition may adhere to sola scriptura but you came up with it yourself it is not taught, that one should worship a book…

But why are you talking about Sola Scriptura? That was never mentioned in this thread…

"I believe in Sola Scriptura, because Jesus believed in Sola Scriptura. ā€œIt is written!ā€ "

This was copied from the opening post…

As a mathematician I would note the difference between necessary and sufficient in proofs. One may show that a certain condition is necessary for a hypothesis to be true, but find other conditions to obtain a sufficient proof. Jesus stated that Scripture is necessary, but nowhere does He state that it is sufficient.

He believed in* Scirptura*, but nowhere does He show a belief in Sola.

Nor could He! Jesus was a Jew and Jews believe in Scripture and Tradition, Torah and Oral Torah. For them, Scripture and Tradition is the Word of God.

Try reading Matthew 4
You have to do better than that.

~John 20:30; 21:25~

You’re in the wrong place to be telling people that ā€œif it isn’t in the bible, then it isn’t trueā€

Try reading Matthew 4
???

If Jesus felt that Sola Scriptura was the basis for His Truth then why didn’t He just have everything written down while He taught???

Try reading John 21! ā€œBut there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.ā€ (Jn 21:25)

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

We were talking about the sufficiency of scripture…that’s all! The comment was Jesus never said scripture was sufficient just necessary. In Matthew 4 Jesus obviously thinks scripture is sufficient enough to fight off Satan. If Jesus thinks so…so do I!
