PRAYER TO BL. JANE OF AZA
Dearest Jane, we earnestly give to you our petitions this day. We have confidence in your intercession because you were once a wife and mother like so many of us. Born to a noble family, you were married to another noble and gave birth to five children. When the eldest two boys became priests, you went to the shrine of St. Dominic Silos to beg for another son to carry on the family name and line. Your prayers were answered in the form of a dream in which St. Dominic Silos came you and said this child would be a shining light for the Church.
A son was born to you, and you called him Dominic after the saint who commended your request to God. As he grew to manhood, it was evident that he had extraordinary virtue and grace. You too allowed him to study for the religious life. He was the founder of the Dominicans.
Since through a Saint’s petitions your urgent prayers were granted, we beseech you to listen to our prayers and lay them at the feet of Jesus. Please pray for our families, our children, for all those who have strayed from the Faith which you and your son so loved, and for all those who will die this day, especially priests and religious. Please also include this woman who is the victim of slander. Thank you, Bl. Jane. Amen.
