My GF has been telling me of a popular fan artist who has decided to go through a sex change operation, mutilating her perfectly healthy body because she wants to be a “man”. I’ve already tried to speak to her about it and her only response was a childish “STFU”. It’s clear she doesnt’ want to listen to anyone try to talk her out of this grievous decision.

Please pray for her.

That is so sad. The operation wont make her a man. merely a mutilated woman. But we must also pray that the pain that caused such a decision might be eased by our lord.

I’ll keep this in my prayers.

What’s a fan artist? Just curious.

I’m very sorry to hear of someone that feels the need to have to do that. I pray to God and Our Blessed Mother for this woman and her pain and yours also.

Praying. These situations are so sad. Not only is a healthy body mutilated and a grave sin committed, but studies show that individuals are no happier long-term post-operation than they were pre-operation. 😦

Homosexual acts are sinful. The Catholic Church teaches this.

“A woman will not be clothed with man’s apparel, neither will a man use woman’s apparel: for someone that does these things is an abomination before God.”
  • Deuteronomy 22:5
While the Old Testament rules are over the ultimate reasons for them can still be found by mediating on it. Romans 1:23-32 talks about homosexual acts in the New Testament:
Romans 1:23-32
“23 And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts, and of creeping things.
24 Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.
27 And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.
28 And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers,
30 Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.
32 Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.”

I understand that sometimes these surgeries are legitimate because the people who get them are so sure that they were born into the wrong body. I have never felt at odds with being female, so I can’t empathize, but I’m certainly willing to believe that Nature does make mistakes.

What concens me is that every surgery carries a risk of death, someone else has to breathe for us, for Pete’s sake! Also, especially in the case of M to F there’s no return if at a later date the decision is regretted.

There are doctors who do a lot of things they shouldn’t be doing, thinking of Michael Jackson’s nose.

That said, I wouldn’t abandon a friend who made this decision, I wonder if the friend is young, if she has a career, does she understand that someday she’ll be a middle aged or old man, (God willing that she survives the surgery and how do we even know how many don’t because it’s so wrapped in secrecy) does she understand that many in society will refuse to accept her even you don’t turn on her? Has she talked to her family, does she have a priest or minister or rabbi she can talk to about this? And where on Earth is she getting the money for this? Who will take care of her while she’s in recovery? Where will she live?

I’ll pray for you too, that you have patience as your friend takes this journey, but I will pray that she changes her mind instead of her gender, the risks are too great.

Having worked in a hospital that performed ‘sexual reassignment surgery,’ I took the time to discuss the procedure with a few doctors in general form. It was my understanding that certain criteria have to be met, including psychological, in order for the surgery to occur.

Peace,
Ed

Lord, grant grace and angelic guidance to this soul to avoid sin and to appreciate the glorious theology of her body. Move her to humility, fortitude, and magnanimity. Lead her to your Sacred Heart, now and forever. Our Lady, pray with us. Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen
