What can you tell some one that will say apostolic succession ended with death of the last apostle ?

Thank you and you are right I was not thinking its late here and I need to get to bed
 
How could apostolic succession end before it end begins? “Succession” means to succeed someone in office, after retirement or death. Hence, apostolic succession meas someone succeeded the Apostles in office after their deaths: someone had to come after the Apostles to carry on the Apostolic Tradition. Otherwise there would be no Church. This is made clear from the Bible, specifically, the Acts of the Apostles.
 
24 And praying, they said: Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, 25 To take the place of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas hath by transgression fallen, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave them lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Judas’ successor was chosen by lot. The Apostles seemed to have the idea that the place, (or ‘ministry and apostleship’, as they called it), that Judas had occupied needed to be filled by a successor. In Rome, St Peter the Apostle was succeeded by Linus, I believe.

You can only give people the truth. They will either accept it or they won’t.

Remember that many people are brought up in an atmosphere of extreme distrust of all things Catholic. Others brought up in an atmsophere of hatred toward the Church.

It’s not likely that simply giving them the objective, bibilical proof of apostolic succession is going to change their hearts. They have to want to see the truth.

Well, you can ask him, “So who in your opinion led the Church after the death of the last (original) apostle? Jar-Jar Binks?” Is that why we have denominations today that have absolutely no unity because of incumbent pastors?" 🙂
