Covenants are from god. God has said, I will be your God and you will be my people. God creates the whole of the covenant, he states what he will do, and he states what we will do. In an oath you must make promises and swear to those promises. And, that is not what covenants are. Moses asked God for the Torah and God gave the torah as a covenant. A covenant is like a binding gift from God.

I believe the is the law and the spirit of the law, so we see in this instance Baptism was not nessesary for Salvation, it was what was in the theifs heart.

It amazes me too. So you think Baptism is not necessary. I provided you the verses and wonder why Jesus submitted to it, commanded it and the apostles directed it to be done.
I also wonder that when a covenant was between God and man, such as Noah, Abraham, and Moses, it was sealed with a sign.

I think fish is just a symbol to identify themselves as Christians. Now it is the cross that’s commonly used.

Covenant, meaning a solemn contract, oath, or bond, is the customary word used to translate the Hebrew word berith (ברית, Tiberian Hebrew bərîṯ, Standard Hebrew bərit) as it is used in the Hebrew Bible, thus it is important to all Abrahamic religions. The equivalent word in the Septuagint and the New Testament is diatheke, see also Strong’s G1242.

The Noahic Covenant, found in Genesis 8-9, applies to the whole of humankind. In this covenant, God:
  1. blesses Noah and his sons, and tells them to populate the earth (9:1)
  2. places all plants and animals under human command (9:2-3)
  3. forbids eating meat with the blood still in it (9:4)
  4. forbids murder (9:5)
  5. commands humankind to shed the blood of those who shed blood (9:6)
  6. promises that he will never again destroy all life on earth by flood (9:11)
  7. creates the rainbow as the sign of this covenant for all ages to come (9:12-17)

As far as oaths, Friends do not swear oaths. We are to speak the truth at all times…making an oath to “tell the truth” implies that our words are not trustworthy unless one is under oath…Friends do not perform oaths.

Within our judicial system the right to “affirm” is an alternate to performing an oath.

I’m in agreement with you. A Covenant is only binding if their is an oath. God has swearn by his Holy name and we must swear by his Holy name. That is not a contract,but a Covenant. There is a exchange of persons. He is our God and we are his children. I contend there must be an oath by both parties, other wise it is a contract. For I Covenant to have power we must be involved too, it can’t be onesided.👍
Is Baptism nessesary for Salvation? What kind of Baptism, Water, Fire, or Blood?

Read Ezekiel chapter 20 God swear oaths.Friends enter into contracts a persons name is good enough, signitureor handshake. A Covenant Oath is done in the name of God that he is our God, this should never be done lightly, they are about as different as Marriage and Prostitution. Marriage is not a contract it is an oath we enter into and through God we co-creat when we have children, there is an actual exchange of persons. A contatract is done with friends and has no real power, only our good name, like prostitution it is an exchange of goods and services based on peoples name.It is why God had to punish the Israelites at the golden calf. God dose not want to have to punish, we force him because he must keep his name Holy!😉
