Hey Everyone,
I would like to invite you to check out or subscribe to our blog: SVAmonks which offers some great information to men thinking and praying about a vocation to the Benedictine way of life. Just a little about our community: we are the first Benedictine Abbey in America founded in 1846 by Archabbot Boniface Wimmer, O.S.B. and today we are a growing house with just over 170 monks (and on July 1st we will welcome 6 new Novices ages 22, 23, 33, 34, 38, 41) to our community. In an age when most Benedictine houses are hurting for vocations, we have been the exception and we thank our Lord for pouring His abundant blessings on us! This past week we hosted over 115 priests, deacons, and seminarians for the “Splendor of the Church Symposium” which was presented by our very own seminary professor, Dr. Scott Hahn, what an amazing experience!!! With our new Novice class arriving shortly and our current novices taking first vows on July 10th, we are now beginning to form the 2009-2010 Novitiate Class. If you are someone you know is interested in becoming a monk (ages 18-35), please contact our vocation director, Fr. Fred Byrne, O.S.B. (e-mail) and let him know you want to make a visit to the birthplace of American monasticism: St. Vincent Archabbey!!!
Here are some pictures of the Brothers and scenes around the Archabbey, truly the Lord is Good!!!
