Let us pray for all Catholic priests who are being persecuted by terrorists or oppressive regimes, including but not limited to
  • Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil who was kidnapped by ISIS terrorists in Yemen
  • Fr. Teresito Soganub who was kidnapped by ISIS terrorists in the Philippines
  • Frs. Charles Kipasa and Jean-Pierre Akilimali who were recently kidnapped from their parish house in the Congo by “men in uniform”
Please feel free to post in the thread names of other priests who are kidnapped, held hostage, or unjustly imprisoned so we can pray for them.

Dear Jesus, please protect your beloved priests from the dangers of terrorists, kidnappers, and oppressive regimes. Please keep them safe and, should they fall into the hands of enemies, help them to be strong and not lose heart as you did for Sts. Peter and Paul when they were imprisoned. Please strengthen these priests in body and mind and soul during their imprisonment and let them be freed so they can continue serving you. Jesus, I understand that sometimes bad things happen to good people including priests because of the sins of man; please help these bad events to bear fruit through bringing even more people to believe in You and love You. In Jesus’ Name I humbly pray. Amen.

For Father José Miguel Machorro Alcalá, 55, who was stabbed in the neck and torso while saying Mass in Mexico City.

For Father Felipe Altamirano Carrillo, an indigenous priest who served in the Mexico’s western state of Nayarit, who was murdered while returning from saying Mass in one of the towns in which he served.

For all the priests in Mexico, who have endured a century of violent persecution.

Lord, hear our prayer.
 
Prayers offered for all persecuted priests around the world. Praying for the safety and release of those held captive and praying for those in countries, like Mexico, where they are in danger of being assassinated.

I’m praying for them. May God rescue them from harm and return them home safely.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Prayer to Sts. Nazarius and Celsus

Saint Nazarius and Saint Celsus, not very much is known of your lives, other than you were both martyred for the faith by Emperor Nero. St. Ambrose discovered your relics and a vital of your blood. Many miracles were wrought by appeal to both of you. One of the legends surrounding the two of you was that St. Nazarius’ mother was Saint Perpetua, that beautiful and steadfast saint who was herself martyred years before. It was said Saint Celsus was a companion of Nazarius.
Having both of you as an early example of courage, loyalty, and perseverance to the end, please pray that we may likewise obtain those virtues. Intercede and plead for us to God, that He may have mercy on our weaknesses, and give us an abundance of grace because of them. May we be willing to even shed our blood for the Faith if Christ asks it of us. I also ask you to hear and succor the petitions laid before you this day.
Pray for us, Saints Nazarius and Celsus!
Amen.
