Hi all,

Please send one up for my best mate, who has been struggling with alcoholism for many years and has entered a treatment facility. It isn’t his first–he has walked out of two or three before completing their programs. He goes to AA, but usually seems to crash after about a month sober. It’s eating him up inside and he tends to become suicidal while he’s on his benders.

Please also pray for me as I relate to him, that I can maintain my own sobriety and see my friend as a person to be loved rather than a problem to be solved.

Thx,
-MM-

Dear Lord, please look gently upon these two sincere hearts trying to overcome these tendencies. My poison is wheat, barley oats, rye, the hardest to give up being wheat which includes white crusty bread and croissants, 🙂 (I have celiac disease) but I know that what you two battle against, and have to give up, is a lot harder, and I ask God to bless your great courage and build you both up.

Please retstore them both to a hopeful and flourishing new beginning for their lives dear Lord.

Our Father Who art in Heaven Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread and forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive thouse who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
AMEN

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. :crossrc:

Almighty and Eternal God,
You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You.
Hear us for Your servant
for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
he may give thanks to You in Your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.

Praying for that your friend overcome his addiction and that you be a good support for him …

For your friend and your intentions.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen
:signofcross:

Update: He’s been sober for nearly two months now and is actually enjoying his experience in treatment. He fought through the urge to walk out in the first week and is doing well. He is scheduled to gradtuate Easter weekend–what a great time to start a new life!!

Pax,

Loving God we thank You for helping MM’s friend to overcome his illness and to begin to flourish as a person free to be the person whom You created him to be.
Please protect him against all stumbling blocks, and help him to complete his tasks as a member of the Kingdom of God
