Mother and love the weary, abused, neglected

Surround and show the unwanted little souls who’ve

My brother had been trying to get the health officials to assess whether Mother could be wheeled in a trolley to the lounge or garden in the Home. They were not interested (even though he said we would buy the trolley) so he gave up and asked staff in the hospital where he worked and they said it would be safe and suitable. The trolley needed was an accident and emergency trolley that cost thousands of pounds BUT the hospital were auctioning secondhand trolleys and they sold us one for £120 plus £20 for the special mattress (they cost a few thousand). So Mother has had a tour of the Home and gone outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Apparently when they wheeled her outside, she looked at the sky, felt the breeze and her face lit up so much, they staff were reduced to tears.

What a blessing, not just for Mother but the other bedridden residents who can use the trolley, when Mother does not need it. The staff in the Home are thrilled as it is a means to improve the quality of life for some residents. God certainly moves in mysterious ways. 🙂

Thank you for your prayers. Mother is still going strong. She told the staff that she was going to Rome to see the Pope and when they said that I was going and hoped to meet the Pope, Mother said “Oh, I had better go to Church instead”. When they asked her why she wanted to go to Church she gave them a look and replied sternly “Because I am CATHOLIC!” Mother was a lapsed Catholic, so her words are almost as if God is saying that He is answering my prayers for her (in His time and His way). She also asked for a priest, but said it wasn’t urgent and could wait until I got back from holiday. The problem is that by the time Father visits, she may have forgotten she wanted to see him and if she is in a bad mood, he will get both barrels of abuse, so I figured I would see if she still wanted priest in a week’s time (and asked Jesus to step in if she needed a priest while I am away).

It has been 4 and a half years since Mother had a stoke, in some ways it is a struggle but there have been many blessings and simple joys. I have wondered why this happened, but realise that we have been blessed in many of the important little ways and that we may never know the rippling of blessings that God has set in motion touching the lives of complete strangers simply from Mother’s situation.

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying,

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials,
Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows,
Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Thy grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Thy tender love as Father and Savior,
Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me!

When sickness and loneliness overcome me,
Jesus, help me!

Always, in weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.

Sweet Heart of my Jesus, grant that I may always love You more.
Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, set our hearts on fire with love of You.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like Your Heart.

Prayers said. All will be well. Do not fear, the Lord is protecting you.
Do not be lonely, your guardian angel is beside you.
Be comforted, Mother will watch over you, and the
Holy Spirit will guide you.
