For Catholics: Would you consider yourself anti-protestant?

Just curious

I have been reading alot of threads that just catholics are posting and I have seen some things written that are very negative toward protestants so I pose the question.

Im not accusing–just wondering. I figure since catholics accuse us(not all of us of course)protestants of being anti-catholic---------would you consider yourself anti-protestant?

I do not consider myself anti-Protestant, but living in the South and being surrounded by many who don’t get my faith, I am guarded around them, if that makes sense.

i just noticed the post. i am sorry that it took me so long to get to it.

i think that i meant awanas. it is a group for kids that meet once a week, usually on Wednesday. they play games and have fun. they also learn bible verses that support protestant teachings. if you learn enough verses you get rewards.

it isn’t evil or anything just very protestant in its teachings. plus i am wary of any church that does friendship evangelizing as this could lead to some underhanded attempts to convert my kids.

Thank you, I agree, I would be VERY careful about letting my kids attend anything protestant. Kids are very easily influenced. I have “bible study” with my Grandkids and we read stories about the Early Church and and have games. we act out different scenes etc. I have to tell you the story about my 5 year old grandaughter. She was playing Mary, and holding baby Jesus, while the others were being the 3 kings, I was King Harod and the narrator. When Harod said to the soldier, Go find all the babies under 2 years old and kill them, my grandaughter jumped up off the sofa and said, “Grandma, I don’t want any more of this King Herod stuff.” I explained to them all how God protected Baby Jesus by having Joseph take him and Mary to Egypt.They can learn while having fun too. I enjoy it as well.

Amen to that!! My daughter in law brought her first convert into the Church while she was taking instructions herself. She would tell her friend about what she learned and they both came into the church. Now that friend has married and her husband is a convert and her family, (6 children) are all very faithful Catholics. My son and wife have 4 children, all miracle babies. She was told she could never have any children and she went to Paul Vl Institute in Omaha, NE. and now has 2 girls and twin boys. 6 Months after the twins were born she had to have a complete hysterecteomy. When my son and her first started dating, he took her to Mass with him every Sunday. At the time, nearly 20 years ago. we only had EWTN on for 3 hours in the evening and I watched it every night and Amy loved watching it and fell in love with the Blessed Mother. God works in mysterious ways. I am sooooo thankful.
P.S. Over the years she has helped to bring back many fallen away Catholics and was very instrumental in helping to get children Baptised.

nope. not at all. as a matter of fact, i welcome discussion with protestants. iam not anti protestant at all.

I must admit that due to some experiences from a jillion years ago, I sometimes prejudge white Protestants as being anti-Catholic, so I sometimes take an overly defensive stance.

I’ve never had a problem with anti-Catholicism from Black Protestants.

I’m white, by the way.

I would like to answer, but I would feel more comfortable if you defined “anti-protestant.” I hope to give you a more accurate answer that way. It can be dangerous throwing around terminology without “being on the same page.”

I myself am not “anti-protestant” as per hating those who follow the doctrines of the 16’th century “reformers”, but I will consider myself an “anti protestant” as per hating with all my heart the doctrinal reforms of the original reformers. I feel so sorry for Billy Graham, Jack Van Impe and all those “ministers” [Moderator Note: Removed uncharitable comments].

I feel even more sorry for those in high places in the Catholic Church who are pushing these false “reformed” theologies, under the guise of “renewal” and “spirit of vatican II.” As Fr. O’Connor said, “we will all see them brought before the judgement seat of Christ- and He will tear off their vestments one by one.”
