The United States is falling apart, morally and financially.

Europe may soon erupt in flames again. The Russians are causing trouble.

China, a godless country ruled by a godless ideology, is quietly making plans.

Poverty soars, while oligarchs, including US oligarchs, and they do exist, get richer.

Radical Islam is growing, leaving misery in its wake.

The world seems to be spinning out of control.

Pray for peace, pray for the spread of Christianity. Pray for HELP.

I’m not sure where I read or heard it but a parent, in response to a child’s fear and concern having watched a disaster scene on the television, advised her to watch for the helpers. In every awful situation; there are people who try to help, to heal, to save.

The world is a frightening place right now; but it was always so. The World Wars, diseases, cruelty, even back to the widespread infanticide, slavery and violence of the Roman Empire! Yet at the same moment, in the same places, God was working through his people, healing and saving. Just this week, on the same day, I read both of crucifixions in Syria and that a nun is going to help the people, knowing in her heart that she was called to do so; whatever the danger.

Try not to focus so much on the evil of the world. Seek and find the good and help where you can, with your support, your time and your prayers. Pray for evil doers every day. You know; those people whose deeds rob you of a night’s sleep.

I struggle, as you do, with worry over these things. I go to extremes and get very angry, however. My confessor has told me many times to pray, pray, pray! I do and it helps but all I can do is work on my small corner of the world and to ‘be the change I wish to see in the world’.

Take care. x

Mercy for the suffering world

Heavenly Father, please send Your Holy Spirit amongst us for the healing and conversion of this world.

Father, please overcome the agendas of the humanists and leaders who seek systematically to eradicate the teachings and love of Jesus from our societies, replacing Christian festivals with pagan symbols, and banishing Him from public life and schools, from families and societies.

Defeat the lobbying that brings about laws that allow the destruction of multi-millions of your children in the intended safety of their mothers’ wombs. Please empower Your people to strive for the overturning of such laws; and all laws which sin against Your Commandments and gospel teaching.

Please inspire the people of this world with the sanctity of marriage, and unselfishness in relationship. Please eradicate the harm to perceptions of love as promote by all forms of media, as disposable when challenges wear off the gloss of initial attraction.

Father, have mercy on all sufferers in our world, all victims of natural disasters; victims of war; and victims of unjust distribution of wealth and resources.

Reach out through your people with practical kindness and support, to the hungry, to the poorly clad, to the homeless, to those without education, employment or self-respect, to the ill and the handicapped, and to all those in need.

Reach out with the voice, the example and the love of Your people, to feed the spiritually poor and lead them to Your Son, sharing with them the riches of faith, Sacrament, and eternal life.

Heavenly Father, please restore our conscience regarding this world’s resources, as excessive exploitation of natural resources has resulted in decline of animal species, climatic change and proliferation of natural disasters. These consequences threaten the welfare of our planet and its inhabitants.

Father, in Jesus’ name, please restore Your creation; and spread the gospel of Jesus throughout the world.

Father, grant that the Holy Spirit will renew this world.

Agreed.

However, there is goodness, even now and the opportunity to manifest goodness.

As to looking for the helpers, I’ll go one better. Why not BE a helper?

Agree Norm. We need to pray for the spread of Christianity. Especially in the US; we have so become a secular godless society.

“What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” Mother Teresa.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Help us Lord, help us to love You and proclaim Your love to the world. Amen. :signofcross:
