I know from experience that depression can be the result of a sickness but also it could be the result of something that happened to you. In both cases you need help But most of all, having found out why prayer is important.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints and Angels of Heaven, and powerful in the holy authority of His name, I ask of the heavenly Father to rebuke this spirit of dression and to command it in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to depart from me, now, quietly, without harm to anyone.
I bring the power and the protection of the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ over my life. Satan has no part with me as I am sealed with the saving blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father, forgive me for not being all I should be in Your eyes. Let the cleansing, healing waters of my baptism wash over me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

Saint Padre Pio ( today was his canonisation day in 2002) said this: Whenever you are seized by depression or sadness, let your thoughts dwell on that fateful night on which the Son of God began the work of redemption in the solitudue of Gethsemane, and offer your own sufferings to the divine Father, along with the sufferings of Jesus. You must also have recourse to some good reading and avoid those distressing readings which are not suitable for you. If, after all, you still feel depressed, then apply yourself to some manual work or something else which distracts you. You might even start singing some cheerful song and, if possible, invite others to sing with you. I also want you to talk about this with your loved ones. Dont worry, for all will work out for the triumph of Gods glory. You are loved by Jesus, and Jesus has already forgiven your sins, so there can be no further reason for your spirit to be depressed. Your desire to convince yourself to the contrary is truly a waste of time; it is an offense to the Heart of this most tender Lover of ours.
